When Buck and Hawk explore the surface of the planet Janovus XXVI, they encounter a dying old man known as the Guardian, who entrusts Buck with a strange, glowing green box before passing away. Not long after Buck and Hawk return to the Searcher with the object, the box triggers a series of bizarre hallucinations amongst the crew. As everyone aboard experiences terrifying visions of their past, present and future, the box then takes over the controls of the Searcher and sends it rushing at great speed towards an unknown destination…
